NEHS Membership Selection
Membership in NEHS is an honor bestowed on individuals selected for their accomplishments in the field of English and in overall academic achievement. The Constitution of the Jonathan Safran Foer Chapter of the National English Honor Society sets forth as minimum requirements for active membership the following:
1) Completion of the equivalent of three semesters of Language Arts prior to induction as members
2) Achievement of a minimum overall grade point average of a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) prior to induction as members
3) Achievement and maintenance of a 90.0 grade point average in their respective Language Arts classes
4) Completion of an application process (fill out the membership application found under the "Members" tab)
To receive a cord on Graduation night, Senior members must complete a cumulative total of activity points (exact number TBA).
Loss of Membership
Students who fall below the standards mentioned above will be warned promptly in writing by the sponsor or officers given a reasonable amount of time to correct the deficiency, except that in the case of flagrant violation of school rules or civil laws a member does not necessarily have to be warned.
